For the non-textual part of my portfolio, please enjoy the picture I took in Cincinnati Society during study trip to Washington.
In this picture is a statue of Washington outside the Anderson House of the Society of Cincinnati. Apparently, Washington in this statue has handed back his power to his nation, which makes him a representation of Republican Virtue. By making parallel between Washington and Cincinnatus (through the common characteristics, republican virtue, and through the name of the society), the members of Society of Cincinnati frames Washington and themselves as successors of Cincinatus. In this way, they have suggested a parallel between Roman Republic, which boosts the legitimacy, and therefore power of new born America.
