Greetings travelers! I am Xianchang Kuang. Welcome to my Humanities Portfolio! The main contents of the Portfolio are divided into three categories: Definition, Academic Works, and Something New. Each is easily accessible in the links above.
The unifying theme of this Portfolio is how society construct and distribute power. Each item here is either the end result of construction/distribution of power or the process to achieve such result. Revolution results in change of power distribution over social groups; Morality construct power; parallel between Cincinnatus and Washington construct power; defining self, too, constructs power (though it’s personal power;) Romantic music’s position as high art is a result of social construct of power.
I would like to thank Humanities professors (Professor Denham, Professor Ingram, Professor Robb, Professor Tamura, Professor Ewington, and Professor Munger) for the passion and effort they pour into the program. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Fellows and librarians – their support has greatly enriched my Humanities experience. Finally, I would like to thank my fellow Humesters for their accompaniment in the journey towards knowledge.
